Fee Waiver Scheme : A curse or a boon for Andhra Pradesh?

This scheme was launched to support economically weaker sections in the state. The Fee Waiver programme was started in 2008 during the tenure of Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

Who got benefited by this scheme? Did economically backward class got benefited? Who is economically backward? Whose money was this? Did government get anything back out of it?

No one has answers to these questions. Because these questions are hidden deeper into the people's mind who live with caste as a basis for the leader. There is no way a government could check in such a large population to see who is economically backward. So they said anyone with white ration card are economically backward.

Village Admin Officer of my village owns 2.5 crores property. He has a white ration card. His 3 kids completed engineering without paying even a penny. This is one of the case. There is a huge list of people from every corner of the state. No one can stop them.

I can say only 10% of the economically backward class got benefited. Rest swallowed government's money. This was the tax payers money, whose children cannot afford for engineering seat, whose children take a bank loan to pay the fees or whose children cannot dream to study in engineering college.

But none of this matters. Government gets nothing from this. Only few leaders or few parties get votes, I can say mercy votes for our money. These people are worse than the rats which eat our grains.

Now the government cannot take the burden of carrying this scheme any more.Fees has gone from 5000/45000 to 75000 and above depending upon the reputation of college.

Why is this rise? According to the Fees Waiver Scheme  government had to pay the fees to the colleges. Since government had no funds engineering college has backlogs they could not pay the lecturers their salaries. In order to fill the backlogs government has fixed different fee structure for different college.

Who got benefited? Who are suffering? People who did there studies during the period 2008 to 2012. People who would join the engineering college would pay the fees for people got away from waived fees.

This is not democracy man this is capitalist economy now. No one has right to use our money the way they want to.
